about

A live solo acoustic Casey Neill performance recorded at the storied Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA on July 16th 1998. This was an opening set for Jello Biafra. The set leans hard on a fevered acoustic punk sound and is full of 90s cultural references and activism. There's a proto folk-rap about OK Cola and Generation X, the trad Irish song ‘a Stór mo Chroí’ and a Ewan MacColl cover. The eponymous CD 'Casey Neill' (aka "the red album") was a few months old and many of those songs are featured alongside a couple from 'Riffraff', and the debut of a song that would later appear on 'Skree' called 'Scrounge Around'. Grunt, Cry, Howl.
